BioI am a pedantly slapstick thinker, wry writer, student-educator, brain and body sculptor with contradictory cool styles.
Facts: Raised in newspaper family, so I write like I drink green tea--big gulps. Survived and thrived in Peace Corps, in Jamaica. Sired a daughter--my only child--at age 46. She's 16 now and sat in my classroom last year. I could NEVER have predicted this.
This I could have predicted: I am working on my eighth college/university degree. No, this does NOT mean I'm smarter than you. It means I am working on my eighth degree and, of course, for me, learning and mental activity are fun.
I have lived in, besides Jamaica, Taiwan (taught at a medieval-looking university), Costa Rica (in the rain forest, for four months), and Mexico (studied Maya archeology, in Yucatan), study-traveled to China and Japan twice, meditated in India four times.
I could go on with presenting the case that I am some extraordinary person. Think again. I, as everyone, still need creatures--plants, animal companions, and human pets--to people my life.
